Here it is, 8 months after I started this crazy thing, and I’m finally getting around to filling in this page. Have I mentioned that I procrastinate a ton? Or just plain forget most things? I have a “to-do” list, but I usually forget to look at it. Or forget where it is. I’m very forgetful.
There. Is that enough about me? No? Okay…
I’m a mother of three, ages 5, 3, and 1, though the oldest is just about to turn 6. I’ve been married to Bald Man for almost 10 years. We’ve been together since we started dating in high school 15 years ago. Never broke up. That is a good little while, don’t you think? I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I started blogging in May of 2006, after much nagging on the part of my hubby. As is with most things that he bugs me about, I found out I loved it. A few weeks later, Hsien invited me to join her at the b5media blog, Play Library. I was thrilled and honored (still am!). I also started writing at another b5 blog, The 80′s Club, shortly after. Both have been fun and I’ve learned a TON about blogging, and have met some great new people in the blogging community.
What else? I love photography. Love it, and have a blast with it, when I have time. I still don’t have my own digital, but borrow my mom’s (thanks Mom!) for the photos you’ve seen here so far. Still figuring out what I want to get.
I homeschool our oldest, and the other two kids are home all day, too. I homeschool b/c we live in a bad school district, and homeschooling is the best option for us right now. I do this via an on-line academy. So far, so good. I’m learning a ton about myself and my daughter, and the two of us figuring things out together. It’s a crazy ride, but I’m not quite ready to ask the operator to stop it! I think I can stick it out a little while longer (though there are days when I’m feeling quite nauseous).
Okay, I’m quite sure that is enough about me now. Need more info? Read the blog. Thanks for stopping by.
Oh look! We’re twins! My blog is called My Name is Mommy, too.
Hey Amy! Mighty fine name you have there. And I thought I was the only one.
I really didn’t see yours when I started last May, but it’s a fun name to blog under, yeah? Hope you’re having a blast with it, too! And thanks for the reminder that I need to put something out on this About page.
I give you so much credit for homeschooling. I know I don’t have the patience for it. We live in a bad school area, too. I think we’ll have to apply for a geographic exception.
Local Girl: Thanks.
Some days I wonder if I have the patience for it! But, so far, so good. Charter schools and such are things I need to look into just in case this isn’t for us in the future. We’ll see!
[...] about [...]
Hey Kerr! I was just thinking about you today and decided to google you up. Lo and behold! My long-lost friend Kerri, former Fisher basketball center, has a her own blog!
Other than the blogging–I am far too much of a combined procrastinator and perfectionist to have my own blog, where I’d never get around to post anything–it sounds like we still have a lot in common! I have recently undertaken the call to homeschool our oldest (Noah, a 5th grader), which has been a challenging, but rewarding experience thus far. We also have a 4 year old (kindergarten next year) named Jacob and a “baby” Anna who turns 1 this week.
Alas, I long ago hung up my high-tops. Centers might still be people too, but I don’t happen to know any any more. I am so busy with homeschooling, taking care of the kiddo’s, the house (Ha!), and a fabulous Bible study that I’m in, that my best exercise comes from chasing after little “I-started-walking-at-8-months-and-can-run-now-even-though-I’m-not-yet-one” Anna.
Well, since it’s about that time to start thinking seriously about what I can whip together for dinner, I’d better close this. Wow! I’m so excited to have found you, Kerri! (P.S. Do you still keep in touch with anyone from Fisher?)
Vick : )
Hey Vick!!! So very cool to see you out here! I was actually thinking of you just last week, wondering what had happened to you, and wondering how I’d let myself get out of touch with you when we’d reconnect those few years back. Thanks so much for looking me up!
I still talk to/chat with Jackie almost daily (you’ll see her in the comments as Jack or Jackie), and we almost hooked up with Amy W. last weekend. I haven’t seen her since hight school. Our plans got canceled, but Jack came here anyway, so I was able to see her last week. That’s all for our Fisher friends.
I’d love to get back to playing basketball, you know, when my life is not focused around three little monkeys jumping on the bed and such.
I’ll e-mail you to catch up on the rest. Thanks again for finding me! I’ve missed you.
Kerri,
I’m delighted to hear you enjoy reading Danny and the Dinosaur to your children. I’m the niece of Syd Hoff and just want you to know that I’m in the midst of developing a comprehensive website (SydHoff.org) so the legacy of his creative work can be enjoyed by all. Hope to have it up by Oct. In the meantime, there’s a bio sketch about his life on my website (SacredDoodles.com).
Hi Kerri,
You don’t know me. I ran across your blog the way Robert Frost’s roads diverge . . . where way leads on to way . . . Anyway I just had to tell you how much I enjoyed your entries. Hope you don’t mind a stranger commenting (and reading).

Carol: Thanks so much for visiting and commenting! Reading your uncle’s books to my kids was one of those joyful moments of parenting, passing on a bit of your own childhood to that of your children’s. Precious. What a fantastic way to honor him, by keeping his legacy alive.
Kat: You know, I hate the communication of the internet for the lack of face-to-face conversations, and being able to hear inflections in speech and experience facial expressions. But I love it for the ease and accessibility of new relationships with people who I may never have otherwise met. That never ceases to delight me. Thanks so much for visiting and commenting and for your kind words, and just for letting me know that you’re here! I enjoyed heading over to your site and reading bits of your life as well. Hoping all the best for you.
Can you help me get started making a blog? What do I need, cost?
Charea: I’d go with wordpress. It’s free, and wordpress is very user-friendly, I think. Click on over and let me know if you have any more questions.

This is your cousin from Sandusky!! I got this blog fom my mom Mary Ann. I have loved reading the blog!! I would love to chat with ya! E-mail me when you get a spare moment so we can catch up!!
Wendy: So sorry that it’s taken me so long to respond! I catch you on e-mail.
Kerri-
Hi- I was hoping that you could let me know if you ever decide to give up your URL or move your blog, etc..
I have been blogging at My Name is Mommy since 2002 when I started the blog on a family website and then moved to Typepad in 03 or 04. At the point at which someone suggested I at least reserve the URL to protect my name and content- I saw you had already started your blog of the same name under the URL. I am interested in the URL and if at some point you decide to move or give it up, I’d really like to get it from you. I am willing to negotiate a fee.
I’m not interested in stirring things up or anything- so don’t take this as being hostile. My Name is Mommy is my personal blog and I have kept it non-commercial. My commercial interests are elsewhere but I am involved in a couple projects and would like to protect the “My Name is Mommy” name down the road.
Anyhow, would appreciate a head’s up if you decide to abandon the URL or, like I said, would be glad to negotiate for you to cede it to me at the point you are no longer using it.
Btw- enjoyed your last post. It is crazy how the time passes by so quickly.
Take care,
Amy
Amy-
Hello again.
I think you were the first comment on this page.
I have no plans at this time to get rid of this domain name. If I ever do, though, I’ll be sure to let you know.
