Seriously. This blogger sucks! She never writes anything!!
Oh wait. That’s me. Heh.
Okay, so I’m enjoying a bit of my Summer Break. Yeah, as a homeschooling mom, I was excited as my daughter to count down to the end of the school year. I know, some homeschooling families continue throughout the entire year, learning and teaching and making themselves better members of society. That’s fantastic for them. Me? I need a break to look forward to. (For which to look forward, I know.). And summer break came just in time!!! Not that we can’t continue to learn over the summer. But we? We don’t have to. We can be ignorant and let our brains turn completely to mush over the next few months. It’s our right. We have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of boogers for brains. I read it somewhere.
Actually, summer break for me has been an opportunity to read like mad for myself. No one else. To learn nothing in particular. Just to read to my heart’s desire. And I am. And I love it.
And the kids? Booger brains. Fed by stuff like Chowder and Sponge Bob. And they love it, too.
I’ll be back to writing something worth reading soon. Until then, send me your favorite authors. Nothing sci-fi or fantasy, though. And that’s a strict rule. Otherwise you will experience pain. Lots and lots of pain. (Name it, anyone?)
I would name for you some author’s, but I am not as much into pain as I used to be. Maybe John Irving. He’s a little on the odd side though and hard to get into sometimes. I have one of his books sitting in my que and I keep passing over it even though he is one of my favorite authors. Could be I’m just a sucker for a guy who wrestled though…
Enjoy your summer. Sorry I broke your name that picture game. Seems I do that when I try and play things. *sigh*
Well, first of all you can read the 3 installments that I wrote about when trouble stirred up around Katarina and Patrick while we were in Paris. http://itsallmaya.com/signs-signs-everywhere-a-sign/
I don’t know if you’re into autobiographies, but I was very pleasantly surprised by Goldie Hawn’s “A Lotus Grows in the Mud”. I wanted something light to read and I thought goofy Goldie would be perfect; instead I got an interesting tale about an intelligent woman on a spiritual journey who is anything but! http://itsallmaya.com/a-lotus-grows-in-the-mud/
I have to admit straight up that I like really gentle, romantic type of novels and my favourite at the moment is Katie Fforde, I’ve been reading some Olivia Goldsmith too and I am also getting into Jodi Picoult, which is quite a leap for me as they can be a little bit scary! Enjoy your break
I don’t have any good authors for you. I don’t read like I used to now that I read blogs all dang day. However, I just had to say that I TOO LOVE SUMMER. This booger brain business is sooooo nice. I’m dreading September. That’s bad, right?
Hey Lady, it you like thrillers try Michael Connelly, Patricia
Cornwall, Catherine Coulter, Ferm Michaels, or if
you like the dark side abit, try Ian Rankin. Those are just a few of my favorites. Looking forward to seeing you’all.
Rantz: Will try your author. Unless he’s actually writing about wrestling. Then maybe not. I’ll throw your picture out there again soon. I want to know what it is.
Lynn: I did read about that. You crazy Americans, stirring up trouble!
Will check out Goldie’s books. I find autobiographies fascinating.
Gill: Thanks for the suggestions. I’ve read all but a few of Picoult’s novels. Some really intrigued me, others were just meh. There was one that I never could get into. But I’m looking forward to your authors. I just requested the Bee one that you wrote about!
Karly: Dreading? Maybe that’s bad. But it’s honest! I’m thinking this summer was way too short. Haven’t felt that way since I was in school myself! Or at least not until I had to find so many tiny shoes and socks in the winter.
Bev: I just picked up my first Patricia Cornwall the other day! I will try the others as well. Always looking for a good thriller. Thanks for the suggestions. Can’t wait to see you again.
A very good series I started last month is that of Joanne fluke, author of the Hannah Swensen mysteries. I am particularly enjoying it as she puts dessert recipes in each book (her main character is the owner of a cookie/coffee shop).
I have always loved Michael crichton, and I really cannot name a book I didn’t like from his writing list. (Please, dismiss all movies you have ever seen that were “based” on his books..nothing like the books!)
I also love Janet Evanovich! Her Stephanie PLum series is absolutely *laugh-out-loud* ! so many times, evern when re-reading the series, I start giggling like crazy while the kids give me the “my mom is soooooo weird” look.
I have at least 50 more authors I could mention, but these are the ones I picked for you. (I think I need to join Reader’s Anonymous… it is a serious addiction.
)
Happy reading!
Like to watch Stargate Atlantis episodes and also Lost. I found your blog on google and read a few of your other posts. I just added you to my Google News Reader. Look forward to reading more from you in the future.
