That’s my grandma and me. I love my grandma. She rocks. And we happen to have close birthdays, so we get to celebrate together occasionally. Here’s us blowing out our candles (should have been a combined total of 118. as it was, I think there were 19. probably better not to burn the house down):

And here’s grandma playing the Wii that my mom picked up today. My mom was totally born in the wrong generation. A few more later and she absolutely would have been a gamer.

That blur is the closest that you’re going to get to an action shot until I can figure out how to download the video.
So, my birthday week continues. It started with dinner at my in-laws Saturday (with a lemon pound cake and lemon curd homemade just for me, yum!), continued with celebrations with house church on Sunday, my dinner out with Bald Man on Monday (the actual day), and cake and dinner and the Wiiiiiiii with Grandma and the fam tonight. There’s still a few more friends yet to celebrate with, and I think that’ll be next week. Fantastic.
I’d have to thank Chris for the weeklong birthday suggestion with a link and that to his blog, but seeing as how it’s not up yet, that’ll have to wait. I think it was an excellent idea, though, and his housemate will just have to blame him if I continue to be an obnoxious birthday diva for another few days.
Actually, I usually try and spread out my birthday for a whole month. I figure that the longer I can work it the better. Some people are in such a rush to do it all on one day. Why? I mean, when I wake up tomorrow I still want to be celebrating my birthday! I’ve tried to take it longer than a month, but usually that’s pushing it. The good news is that my whole family does this so it’s… TRADITION!
Oh, and I think it is swell they wait and hold the corn festival for your birthday. They do it for me as well. Maybe we are just special…
Rantz: A whole month. Excellent. You aren’t the baby of the family, are you?
Is the sweet corn festival this weekend or next? I’ll be bummed if it’s this weekend as it’s just gonna be crazy. Next would be better. Let them know for me, will ya? And Happy Birthday, btw.
Sorry, it is this weekend. Yes, I am the baby, but our whole family does this.
Thank you.
Rantz: Alright then, eat an ear for me. And one for that baby of yours. Cuz he ain’t got no teeth.
I can never seem to be free on SCF weekend.
If anyone deserves a week of celebration, it’s you. Happy Birthweek.
Happy Belated Birthday! I love the photos of you and Grandma! She’s the epitome of someone 85 years young!!!
Lynn: Thanks.
Isn’t she beautiful? I can only hope to be as lively as her a half-century from now!
Kate: I missed your comment! Grr…something’s going on with my notifications. But THANK YOU!!! That was very sweet.
