It’s insomnia week at MNIM… July 14, 2007

Filed under: Life — mnim @ 12:56 am

I’m having a bit of a battle with insomnia this week, not sure why. There’s no major stress going on, nothing more to worry about than usual, nothing particularly exciting.

I’ve never been particularly good at falling asleep. If you’re one of those people who are snoring withing 2 minutes of your head hitting the pillow, well, I’ve spent many hours on many a night envying you. When I’m not cursing you, that is. ;)

I shared a room with my sister when we were little. She was one of those people. Yes, I have memories as far back as about the age of 7 or eight lying in bed staring at the ceiling just waiting for the Sandman to come while she snoozed away.

Bald Man? Generally a quick sleeper as well. Extremely frustrating.

That will be a requirement of my next roommate. I need to see, “has trouble falling asleep,” listed on their resumé.

I’ve reduced caffeine, though that’s never generally affected my sleeping one way or another (though some have mentioned that that may change seeing as how I’m no longer a spring chicken). Like I said, no major stresses. Any other thoughts on what the problem may be?

What’s that? I’ve bored you all to sleep? Well, at least this post has been beneficial to someone. ;)

Too much computer time? I find it hard to sleep if I’m the computer all the way up to bedtime.

Hsien: Too much computer time? Is there such a thing? Hmmm…seems a sure sign that I’m an addict, yeah? :P Thanks. I’ll give shutting down earlier a try.

I’ve found that if I just relax correctly I can fall asleep anywhere at anytime. Usually I’m asleep as soon as I hit the pillow and part of that is because I don’t go to bed until I’m about to fall over. My little sim always has a big cloud with a bed over its head.but on those 2 0r 3 days a year I have trouble falling asleep, I just relax starting at the top and work my way down to my toes and I think black (the colour, not the mood) thoughts. I’m asleep in no time.

Rantz: Hey there, new daddy. :) I’ve tried that whole relaxation technique. Doesn’t work for me. Probably because my attention span isn’t so great and I can’t stay focused enough, really. I think I only have 2 or 3 days a year that I don’t have trouble falling asleep!

Ugh! I have the same problem! My bald man (who is also quick to sleep, quick to snore) & I have decided that after I’m done nursing our daughter, I am getting a sleep study done. Sleep is like the holy grail….I’m always hunting for it.

Jenny: Let me know if you find it, and please share the wealth! Thanks for visiting. :)
