So, when did I get so out of the loop that I started finding out from a Brit what was, or was not, going to be showing up on my TV on a given night? Apparently, yesterday.
Bald Man and I have enjoyed Sorkin’s Studio 60, but last night it was replaced by the new series, The Black Donnellys. Another good show down the tubes (btw, that’s like flushed down the toilet here in the states, not the subway
).
So, we watched The Black Donnellys. Kinda. Okay, so I started watching it with Bald Man, and then started working on the computer in front of the TV. It was a bit hard to follow at the start when I was paying attention to the storyline. Somewhere in there I stopped paying attention, apparently, b/c was a bit confused and I looked at Bald Man and asked, “Did they just put those masks on and pretend to be Italian?”
His look said to me, “No, you dolt. You obviously haven’t been paying attention. Do you really think I’m gonna catch you up on the last 15 minutes when you’re just going to ignore the next 15 minutes and not follow the story, anyway?”
What he said was, “Umm…no.”
Oh well. I think I did that during Studio 60 as well. Maybe I won’t miss it as much as I thought.
I heard the Donnellys got even worse reviews than S60, but the fact that even got bad reviews in the first place is confusing enough to me.
And it’s nice to be in the know!
Paul: I think it required too much thinking on the part of the American public, which is often an issue we have around here.
But it did have a nice twist at the end. And thanks for adding me to your blogroll.
Gonna work on sifting through mine this weekend and get you British bloggers on there.
Yeah, the twist was nice. And once I figured out which brother was which all was good. A bit violent. Not as good as Studio 60, but I don’t feel I wasted the hour.
Bald Man: I still don’t know which brother is which, but I’m sure you could’ve guessed that.
Ok, I don’t know about either of the two shows you mentioned. I don’t know if that is a result of satalite or not watching TV that much (strange how those two go together).
I have been watching “Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader”. That is a fun show, although 6 or 7 questions in a half hour is a bit of a waste. I know I’ve missed many of the questions. Sad to say, but true. Darn 5th graders!
Rantz: If I ever thought about getting satellite, which I don’t, you would be the biggest proponent against it so far. (“proponent against it” Is that legal to say?) @5th grader, scary there, friend, knowing how it is that you make your living.
Kerri- Not sure how to take that proponent against statement…
As for the 5th graders, that’s a FOX show. Want to know the really scary bit? You know what my mom does for a living… She’s got a worse score than I do!
Rantz: I am appropriately terrified for the youth of our country, as if I wasn’t enough before this.
