A friend from playgroup had her baby boy yesterday, and a few of us went down to see him tonight. How awesome. Truly.
We walked in and saw her pink bundle laying in the bassinet. I leaned over him and was just overcome by the newborn smell. There is nothing else in the world like that smell. Pure, earthy, irreplicable, perfect.
I’d forgotten all about that smell. I’ve been around a few newborns recently, but none quite so “fresh from the oven” in recent times, I guess. Honestly, there is nothing else like it. Amazing.
Congratulations, dear friend. Well done.

Wait a minute. They wrapped the boy in pink! You didn’t tell me that. What hospital are they at? This needs to be corrected ASAP before any permanent damage is done. They’re so impressionable at that age.
